A resource for GPs has been developed to help provide an understanding of haemochromatosis and the role of genetic testing. This is in the form of an excellent Teaching Plan from General Practice Supervisors Australia (GPSA).

This resource helps GP registrars develop an approach to the patient with possible iron overload, and encourages an understanding of the role for genetic testing. Included are a number of excellent clinical resources, and links to Haemochromatosis Australia.
Patients with high iron levels often have a range of concerns and questions. Good patient resources can help patients and their families understand more about what may initially seem a worrying diagnosis.

GPSA is supported by funding from the Australian Government under the Australian General Practice Training Program
